Privacy and your choices

Fleeta Limited operates this publication. We use server logs under our legitimate interest in keeping the site reliable and secure. Logs may include your IP address, request address, browser information and the time of your visit. Web access logs rotate daily, with older archives removed after 14 rotations.

Saved articles

The save button stores a short reading list in your browser on this domain. It is not sent to us. You can remove saved articles individually or clear your browser’s site data.

Messages and external links

If you email us, we use your message and contact details under our legitimate interest in answering enquiries. We retain correspondence while needed to resolve the enquiry and meet relevant record-keeping obligations. Links to external sources open services with their own privacy practices. We do not currently run advertising on this site.

Aggregate website analytics

We use Ahrefs Web Analytics to understand which articles are useful and how visitors find this site. It reports page views, referring pages, link clicks, form events, device and browser information, language, and approximate country or city. It does not use analytics cookies or persistent identifiers. Ahrefs processes an IP address to estimate location and daily visitor numbers, then discards the raw address. We exclude search and saved-article pages from the tracker and remove query parameters from page-view addresses. Read how Ahrefs Web Analytics works and its privacy policy.

Email subscriptions

If you subscribe, Fleeta Limited stores your email address and a record of when and how you confirmed your subscription. We use your consent to send new articles and occasional editorial updates from this publication. Your address is encrypted in this site’s separate subscriber database. Our hosting and email services process subscription data on our behalf.

Unconfirmed requests are deleted after 30 days. We keep confirmed details while you remain subscribed. After an unsubscribe, we keep a suppression record to prevent unwanted emails, relying on our legitimate interest in respecting your preferences. Use the unsubscribe link in any email or contact accounts@fleeta.co.uk to withdraw consent. You can also ask to access, correct or delete your information, request restriction or a portable copy where applicable, object to processing based on legitimate interests, and complain to the ICO.

Form security

We use Cloudflare Turnstile to protect our forms against automated abuse, relying on our legitimate interest in keeping this service secure. Cloudflare processes browser, device and network information to perform the check. Verification tokens are short-lived and used once. Read Cloudflare’s privacy policy for details.
